Outline of Revelation
The key to the contents of the Book of Revelation is given in the divine outline of Revelation 1:19. John was told to "write the things which thou hast seen," which includes the glorified vision of Christ in chapter one (past). After this "the things which are," which concerns the church in chapters 2-3 (present). Then "the things which shall be hereafter," which include chapters 4-22 (future).
